Lesson 1-French! After their very first session in their brand new form, the year sevens had French with Mr Gallagher. Next they learned classroom commands (actions and all)! Finally, they got very opinionated. Mr Gallagher: Tu aimes Bob the Builder? Madeleine: Oui, j’adore Bob the Builder! Mr Gallagher: Tu aimes Zingzillas? Jamie: Non, je deteste Zingzillas! Lesson 2-English! Everyone has to make a wanted poster for the person sitting next to them. But, before they start, they’ve got to ‘fess up’ and reveal the crimes they have committed in the past. Could you honestly believe that Dylan would shout in his Mum’s face and be proud of it? Or that Jude used to take great pleasure in nipping people? I used to think these new year sevens were so nice, now I’m not so sure! ![]() Some students seem traumatised by the videos they've seen. Or are they just appauled by the quality of a joke from Mr Bloor? After a quick break the new year sevens are being treated by a special talk from the police on internet safety. The DVD they watch with it explains that if you have any trouble on the internet you can always report it at thinkuknow.co.uk or call childline. Time to chill out, but not for long… Next lesson was P.E., full of action. The girls worked on their footy skills, while the boys were practising cricket, in the nets! The final lesson of today was art. The new year sevens were exploring the topic of colour and made some fab, rainbow, ink paintings! Everybody is looking forward to tomorrow… by Lina
They started off in Mr. Dixon’s room learning each others names by chucking Charlie the chimp around and using rhymes to help them remember. Then they drew picture portraits to learn more about each other. They also wrote on the graffiti wall about how they were feeling, nervous, excited and AWESOME! Next, they thought of what fancy dress character would be the best to reflect their personality!
Then, it was time for the treasure hunt! Racing around school desperately trying to find all the different rooms may sound crazy but it did help them not to get lost! Alex: That was difficult! Me: But now you won’t get lost! Alex: Might do. Me: Could you show me to the PE department? Alex: Yes. Me: Science labs? Alex: Yeah. Me: Dining hall? Alex: Yeah. Me: See! You’ve got it all covered! After that they actually had to do some proper writing (boo!) but filling in your New Horizons book is a fab way to keep track of what’s going on. After, this it was time for break. However, the new year sevens still had to work on making new friend. But it’s not that hard when everyone is in exactly the same shoes as you! In the afternoon they do a quiz on food prices at Eskdale. Some, however are a bit hard to identify!
At the end of the day the important question is…
Me: Have you found transfer helpful?
Madeleine: Yes! Now i’m not scared about not knowing anyone.
So today has been (in the words of the new year sevens) VERY AWESOME!
